Dr. M K Inamdar

Dr Manohar K Inamdar heads the Ashwini Hospital at Akluj in the Solapur district of Maharashtra. He has been practising as a Consulting Physician at this hospital since 1980, and spends about half of his time attending to cardiac cases (both outpatient and inpatient). He specialises in Cardiology, Diabetology, Intensive Care and Cath Lab.

Dr. Inamdar holds MBBS and MD (Medicine) degrees, which he received from Miraj Medical College in 1974 and 1979 respectively. He is a regular speaker at seminars organised by local Medical Associations, and also at national and international conferences, on the subject of Critical Care.

Over the last 30-plus years, Dr. M K Inamdar has painstakingly developed cardiac care facilities for the rural setting of Akluj and surrounding areas. After setting up a 12-bed CCU, and modern equipment for cardiac diagnostics (Colour Doppler unit, Ambulatory Blood Pressure monitoring, Holter monitoring, TMT, etc), Dr. Inamdar established a Cardiac Cath Lab in November 2005 and underwent extensive online training in Interventional Cardiology, with Cardiologists for about two years. Since then Dr. Inamdar has personally performed over 2,000 procedures including Coronary Angiography, Pacemaker implantation, IVC filters, and about 80 rescue Angioplasties. In recognition of his efforts, Dr. Inamdar was awarded the "Selfless Service to Rural India Award", by IMA Maharashtra State at Mastacon 2005. 

Ashwini Hospital has 75 beds, with 30 beds for critical care, 10 high-end ventilators, a dialysis unit, and a fully functional laboratory, all under one roof. Typical emergencies handled include Snake Bites, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Head Injuries, Oragnophosphorus and other poisonings, and all other medical emergencies. The hospital has Endoscopy units such as Video-Gastroscope, Colonoscope, ERCP scope and Bronchoscope. Also, Open Heart Surgery is being performed at Ashwini Hospital since mid-2012. The in-campus Swami Sarwadanand Diagnostic Centre is equipped with an MRI Scan unit, CT Scan unit, Colour Doppler and Whole Body Ultrasonography unit, Mammography unit and Computerised X-ray unit, and has been running successfully for the last 18 years.
